Books 'n Books

Now that I have almost everyone trained to give me a gift card to a bookstore for any present-giving event, I'm looking for suggestions.  I have a "typical" read, but am always willing to check out something new.  So, neighbors, if you don't mind, tell me your top two or three (or five or however many you want) books.  PLEASE. :-)

I know that some of you guys don't follow football so you won't know exactly how stupid this guy is, but if you want, here's a link to his Wiki page in case you want to skim along.

Well, Plax, old buddy.  It just keeps getting deeper for ya, huh?

The Thursday that is Friday

And why is that?  Because I'm taking the day off tomorrow.  You know why?  Cuz I can.  It's our pseudo-celebration of finishing this friggin Associates degree.  And now that I've had a week off, I really must jump back into studying.  Even my horoscope says so!

Money which you may have been working to earn for a long time may finally come your way today, MiamiShyner. Don't be surprised, however, if you have to do a lot of running around in order to get it! Plans for future moneymaking projects may come your way, though it is important to remember to consider everything carefully and not jump in too quickly. This is an excellent time to start learning a new moneymaking skill. Go for it!

First sentence: I have my annual review today.  I technically got promoted about six months ago without the pay raise to go with it.  I'm hoping this means that I'll actually be getting a raise.

Second sentence: I've been running around for the last six months.

Third sentence: I don't know yet.  Maybe something REALLY interesting will come up today. (btw, keep your fingers crossed for good juju at 10:30am EST please)

Last sentence: Go forth and LEARN!  PHP is first, then I think I'll try to tackle some SQL.  If you could see my bookshelf you'd think I'm a computer programming genius, but alas, I am not.  I really gotta get moving on being more proficient in at least one area.

It's self-portrait Thursday, so here's a picture of me because I think I'm cute today.

Christmas Trees

We've got a Douglas Fir.  I am leaning towards when I was growing up, we had some sort of Spruce?  I can't quite figure it out.  But I know it wasn't a Douglas Fir.  Sure, the tree looks okay, but until my mom decides to hand down the decorations (complete with bubble lights and the annoying chirping bird), I won't ever feel like my tree is complete.

Tough to get spray snow down here, at least in the places I looked.  I refuse to go all the way to Target or Wal-Mart for it, so I'll just make do without it.

Huh, forgot that you can't see the little village that Kiddo set up under the tree.  Maybe I'll shoot it again later.

Happy Sunday.  It's time for.....

STEELERS FOOTBALL!!

And at least they're polite about it. They send "random" coupon packages. Coupons for things like dish and laundry detergent. Yay!

And Swiffers....Kiddo will be thrilled!

And Pantene. Because that's the shampoo I've bought the last three times.

And Clairol hair coloring. Like the one that's sitting on my shelf.

And those yummy pretzel sticks I like.

And a big bottle of Pepto that I eat/drink like candy.

And ooh, a new flavor of Metamucil because I'm almost out of my orange.

12 coupons. 9 directly related to things I would buy. I don't fill out surveys.

I'm going to bed,PG. Please turn off your lights.

The 2008 recap

  • Dec 11, 2008

Well, goldie and Kevin Wolf did it, so I thought I would too.

Go back through the past year's entries and show us the first line of the first (public) post in each month. Now you have a twelve-sentence snapshot of what you thought was worth blogging about in 2008.

January - A new year means just that, a new year.

February - Good morning world, good morning February, good morning Voxaholics!

March - It's been quite the interesting day so far.

April - It's day two and we have no luggage yet.

May - First and foremost, get your sway on!

June - Rest in peace.

July - The last few days have been, well, somewhat ridiculous.

August - 1961 - Six Flags opens their first park ever.

September - So yeah, occasionally I have aches or pains or what have you, but I'm still only 34 until December.

October - Where did Napoleon keep his armies?

November - So, late in the game I've decided to try to spit out a post a day for 30 days.

December - Well, kids, if you can believe it, there are only 30 days left in this year.

This exercise had made me realize that I am so freaking RANDOM!!  It's good to be me.
